about

The splitting of the Red Sea is painted in this music.
The flutes open, mimicking shofars or silver trumpets which hint of the Israelites in the desert and at Sinai. The flutes then become a majestic call. The violin enters with a fragment from the melody of the Haftora, the prophecies which have strengthened us through each of the generations on our way back to the Land of Israel and our nation's redemption.
The melody of "What is it, Sea? Why are you fleeing?" is played by the violin while the flutes and the cymbals represent the fleeing waters and the waves, according to the words of the Psalm.
Later, the clarinet and flute represent the mountains and hills which dance as rams, sheep and goats. The music flows with the words of the Psalm, and then returns to the dance of the mountains and the hills.
Finally, at the finish, the flutes return to the majesty and the clarinet repeats the hint from the Prophets, under the "waters" of the flutes.
